Major CS2 Update: All Animations Overhauled, Maps Reworked

Massive Animation and Map Overhaul Drops for Counter-Strike 2

Valve has just released a major update for its popular tactical shooter, Counter-Strike 2, set to fundamentally alter the player experience. The new patch introduces a complete overhaul of all first-person animations and brings significant changes to several key maps.

All Animations Overhauled

The centerpiece of this update is the transition to a new animation system called AnimGraph2. As part of this migration, every first-person animation in the game has been re-authored. Now, actions like deploying, firing, reloading, and inspecting weapons feature much more modern and fluid animations. Oh, and the chicken animations have been updated, too.

Gameplay and Audio Enhancements

Alongside the visual refresh, some important gameplay adjustments have been made:

  • Improvements to damage prediction when shooting while on the move.
  • Shotgun reloads will no longer automatically resume after being interrupted.
  • Fixed several cases where players could get stuck on map geometry while on surf maps.
  • On the audio front, a bug preventing individual player voice volume adjustments from working correctly has been fixed. Additionally, various improvements have been made to weapon draw and reload sounds to align with the AnimGraph2 updates.

Key Map Changes

The update brings a slate of tactical tweaks to Overpass, Train, and Inferno.

  • Overpass: Breakable glass has been added to the B site doors, and the angle of the truck on A site has been adjusted.
  • Train: New cover has been added on A site near “Hell” and on the B site platform.
  • Inferno: The windows in “Church” above “Coffins” have been opened up, creating new sightlines, and visuals in “Banana” have been adjusted to improve player legibility.
