CD Projekt Red Shifts Focus to The Witcher 4
CD Projekt Red has unveiled its 2024 financial report, sharing critical insights into the company’s upcoming projects. According to the report, 58% of its workforce is now dedicated to the next Witcher title. The Witcher 4, codenamed Project Polaris, entered full-scale production last year, and its first cinematic trailer debuted at The Game Awards 2024. The trailer garnered significant attention for spotlighting Ciri as the new protagonist.
Meanwhile, 12% of the team is working on a new Cyberpunk game, currently in the concept phase under the codename Orion. CD Projekt Red also announced a new Cyberpunk animated series for Netflix, expanding the franchise’s multimedia presence.
Cyberpunk 2077 and Phantom Liberty Break Records
Cyberpunk 2077 has surpassed 30 million copies sold, while its expansion, Phantom Liberty, hit 8 million sales. The game maintained its popularity throughout 2024, winning the BAFTA Best Evolving Game award. Additionally, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition was announced for Apple Silicon-powered Mac devices.
Despite its financial success, CD Projekt Red continues to ramp up game development investments. Even after allocating record-breaking funding and distributing 100 million PLN in dividends in 2024, the company’s cash reserves grew by over 160 million PLN.
What’s Next for CD Projekt Red?
The studio’s upcoming projects are in the following stages:
