Microsoft Announces Xbox Series X|S Price Hike in the US

Microsoft has announced that it will be increasing the prices of its Xbox consoles in the United States. Citing “changes in the macroeconomic environment” as the reason, the new pricing structure will take effect on October 3, 2025. For now, this price adjustment will only impact the U.S. market.

What Are the New Prices?

The price update affects both the Xbox Series X and Series S models. The new recommended retail prices are as follows:

  • Xbox Series S 512 GB: $399.99
  • Xbox Series S 1 TB: $449.99
  • Xbox Series X Digital: $599.99
  • Xbox Series X: $649.99
  • Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition: $799.99

For context, this represents a significant jump for the flagship consoles. The standard Xbox Series X will increase from its previous price of $599.99 to $649.99, while the entry-level Xbox Series S 512GB model will see a smaller increase from $379.99 to $399.99.

Accessories and Other Regions Unaffected

Microsoft has confirmed that this price increase does not apply to accessories such as controllers and headsets. Furthermore, the company stated that the change is currently exclusive to the United States, and pricing in all other markets will remain the same for the time being.
