Total War: Warhammer 40,000 Announced
At The Game Awards 2025, Creative Assembly and SEGA officially revealed Total War: Warhammer 40,000, marking the franchise’s first major leap into the grimdark sci-fantasy universe of Warhammer 40K.
Strategy on a Galactic Scale
Set during the Era Indomitus, Total War: Warhammer 40,000 blends deep turn-based campaign strategy with large-scale real-time warfare. Players will wage planetary wars, expand their fleets, manage vital resources, and lead their forces into apocalyptic battles across the stars.
The game will launch with four playable factions:
- Space Marines
- Astra Militarum
- Orks
- Aeldari
Each faction brings its own strategic identity and gameplay challenges across both campaign and battle modes.
Total War: Warhammer 40,000 features a full roster of iconic 40K units — from infantry lines and armored tanks to walkers and colossal war engines. Armies can be customized extensively, including naming conventions, color schemes, heraldry, and battlefield traits.
Game director Attila Mohacsi commented:
“Warhammer 40,000’s galactic scale, iconic factions, and brutal warfare align perfectly with Total War’s DNA. We’ve collaborated with Games Workshop for more than 15 years, and our goal is to deliver the definitive Warhammer 40,000 strategy experience—just as we did with the Total War: Warhammer trilogy.”
Total War: Warhammer 40,000 is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, marking the franchise’s first appearance on consoles. A release date has not yet been announced, but the game is already available to wishlist.
