Sony Hikes PlayStation Plus Prices Earlier Than Promised

Sony Implements PlayStation Plus Price Increase Ahead of Schedule

Sony has officially raised the prices for its PlayStation Plus subscription plans in certain regions—but not quite when users were expecting. Although the company initially informed subscribers that the price hikes would kick in on June 24, 2025, the new rates have already gone live in Turkey as of April 17.

The move came as a surprise, especially considering that subscribers were using the time before the price hike to extend their memberships at current prices. It seems Sony took notice of this trend—and decided to act faster than planned.

While the early increase currently affects select regions, this could be a sign that more countries will experience a similar change sooner than announced. If you’re thinking of renewing your subscription, now might be the time.

How Much Are the New Prices?

In Turkey, the price increases are significant—reaching up to 63% increases. Here’s how the updated pricing compares:

PlayStation Plus Essential

  • Monthly: 175₺ → 270₺
  • 3 Months: 440₺ → 710₺
  • Annual: 1,400₺ → 2,160₺

PlayStation Plus Extra

  • Monthly: 260₺ → 405₺
  • 3 Months: 720₺ → 1,148₺
  • Annual: 2,340₺ → 3,645₺

PlayStation Plus Deluxe

  • Monthly: 305₺ → 474₺
  • 3 Months: 830₺ → 1,354₺
  • Annual: 2,740₺ → 4,266₺

Meanwhile, in Canada, the prices have also increased, though the percentage jump is slightly lower:

Essential

  • $11.99/month → $13.99
  • $29.99/3 months → $34.99
  • $94.99/year → $109.99

Extra

  • $17.99/month → $20.99
  • $49.99/3 months → $55.99
  • $154.99/year → $189.99

Premium

  • $21.99/month → $24.99
  • $59.99/3 months → $68.99
  • $189.99/year → $224.99

More Countries Could Be Next

The price hike first rolled out in 15 Latin American countries. With Turkey and Canada now affected, Sony’s approach suggests other regions might also see their increases brought forward.

What Should You Do?

If you’re already subscribed or planning to subscribe to PlayStation Plus, it might be a good idea to renew or extend your plan before prices increase in your region—especially now that Sony has shown it’s willing to implement changes ahead of schedule.

We’ll keep you updated if more regions are affected earlier than expected.
