Remedy Shares Development Status on Control 2, Max Payne Remake, and FBC: Firebreak
Finnish developer Remedy Entertainment has shared its progress and future plans from the first half of 2025. The company’s focus remains on advancing its current projects and strengthening its strategy of self-publishing its own titles.
Control 2 is on Track
Development for Control 2 is progressing as planned toward its next milestones. The current focus is on gameplay, environments, and mission structures. Remedy emphasized that the team is working hard to ensure the sequel becomes a strong commercial success.
Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake in Full Production
The Max Payne 1 & 2 remake, developed in collaboration with Rockstar Games, is now in full production. The project maintained steady momentum through the second quarter of 2025 and aims to update the classic for a modern audience while preserving the original atmosphere that fans cherish.
FBC: Firebreak
Remedy’s first self-published title, FBC: Firebreak, was released on June 17th. The three-player co-op FPS had a technically successful launch, reaching 1 million players in its first 10 days—a milestone likely bolstered by its inclusion in subscription services. However, the game failed to meet expectations on Steam, drawing criticism for its mission structure and onboarding experience. Player sentiment has reportedly improved following a series of updates. The development team is planning a major update for late September and has stated its commitment to expanding the game over time.
Control Surpasses 5 Million Sales
Released in 2019, Control continues to be one of Remedy’s most successful titles, having sold over 5 million copies. The full rights to the franchise were transferred to Remedy this year (previously held by 505 Games), and the company is now driving the game’s performance with its own sales campaigns.
In an era of downsizing across the games industry, it seems that while things aren’t perfect for Remedy, they are certainly looking up.
