Rematch Season 1 Goes Live September 23, Adds 3v3 Ranked Mode and Major Gameplay Overhaul

Rematch Kicks Off Season 1 with 3v3 Ranked Mode and Major Overhauls

The long-awaited 3v3 ranked mode is officially coming to Rematch, launching with the massive Season 1 update scheduled to go live on September 23rd.

A New Season, New Features

Addressing a major community request to alleviate the difficulty of forming a full 5-person team, the new 3v3 mode promises faster, more action-packed matches. The Season 1 update doesn’t stop there; it also introduces a fresh batch of cosmetic items and new customization options. This update arrives alongside the recently enabled cross-play support, allowing you to team up with friends regardless of their platform.

Gameplay Improvements

The patch brings significant enhancements to core gameplay. Player movement has been refined to be more responsive, while notorious exploits like the “Ippy Slide” have been nerfed. Goalkeeper dives are now more reliable across the board. While numerous issues related to the “Extra Effort” mechanic have been resolved, the developers note that more fixes are still on the way.

Furthermore, skill-based matchmaking (SBMM) parameters in ranked matches have been tightened to ensure more balanced and competitive games.

  • Fixed an issue where goalkeeper invulnerability would persist after a dive.
  • Addressed a bug allowing goalkeepers to catch the ball from inside the net.
  • Fixed a bug that caused Extra Effort to cancel during a change of direction.
  • Removed an exploit that allowed players to gain unintended speed using Push Ball.
  • Corrected an aiming issue for mouse and keyboard users where the crosshair would drift.
  • Tweaked ball touch distance during control and updated the corresponding animation.

New Localization Options

Expanding its global audience, the Season 1 update also introduces full voice-over support for two new languages: Turkish and Polish.

Network Next Technology

To combat high latency, a new technology called “Network Next” is currently being tested in the Sao Paulo server region. Based on the positive results so far, the team plans to roll it out to other regions in the future.

Additional Updates

New parameters have been added to Custom Matches, giving players more control over their games with options to enable or disable the goalkeeper and skip goal celebrations.

The update is packed with numerous other bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements, ranging from UI corrections to audio enhancements. The beta for the Season 1 update went live on September 17th, and players are encouraged to participate to provide feedback and help identify any outstanding bugs before the full release on September 23rd.
