No Man’s Sky Drops “Breach” Update, Perfect for the Spooky Season
Hello Games has just rolled out a massive new update for its ever-expanding space exploration title, No Man’s Sky. Titled Breach, this latest free content drop leans into a darker, spookier atmosphere perfect for the Halloween season. It significantly builds upon the ship-building mechanics introduced in the previous major update, Voyagers, and sends players on a perilous adventure through abandoned star systems.
The Breach update is now available for all No Man’s Sky owners on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
The Breach Expedition
The centerpiece of the update is the Breach Expedition, which transports players to a desolate and abandoned corner of the universe. In this new expedition, set to run for approximately three weeks, Travelers will encounter the haunting remains of ill-fated corvette ships drifting through the void. Scavenging these derelicts will reward players with new and rare modules to expand their ship-building library.
Throughout the journey, you’ll uncover the fate of the mysterious Fireship Arcadia and unlock exclusive Atlas-themed modules to show your allegiance to the cosmic entity. The expedition also guides players toward the ominous purple star systems previously teased, home to planets with deep abyssal oceans, unearthly creatures, and dangerously volatile gas giants.
Spacewalking and Salvaging Wrecks
Breach introduces a thrilling new element to deep space exploration: Space Wrecks. Players can now exit their ships for a zero-g spacewalk to explore these massive, hollowed-out husks. Using your Multi-Tool’s laser, you can dismantle valuable components directly from the wrecks and repurpose them to craft your dream vessel.
This new mechanic adds a fresh layer of gameplay, promising serene yet tense moments as you float through the silent, eerie graveyards of space.
Enhanced Ship Building and a Trove of New Parts
The ship construction system from the Voyagers update gets a major upgrade in Breach. A vast number of new corvette modules can now be salvaged from derelicts, including:
- New landing gear, shields, and weapon systems
- Highly requested vertical and wedge-shaped modules for more complex designs
- Exclusive Atlas-themed parts like the Aeron Cowling, Aeron Powershield, and Wings of Aeron.
These additions empower players to construct far more intricate and creative starships than ever before.
Other Key Additions
Alongside its main features, the Breach update delivers a host of other improvements and new content:
- Ghost Starship: A mysterious new ship you may encounter in the depths of space.
- Infestations: Biological threats in certain systems have become even more dangerous.
- Survive Gas Giants: Test your survival skills in the hazardous atmospheres of the new gas giants.
