Hello Games is kicking off the 10th anniversary of its expansive universe, No Man’s Sky, with the highly anticipated Remnant (Version 6.2) update. Following a massive year in 2025 with transformational updates like Worlds Part II and Voyagers, the team is shifting focus to physics-based gameplay and planetary industrialization for their first major drop of 2026.

The Remnant update introduces features that the community has long clamored for, including a “Gravity Gun” reminiscent of the Half-Life series, deep vehicle customization, and an entirely new “Scrapping” gameplay loop.

Physics Overhaul: The Gravitino Coil

The centerpiece of this update is undoubtedly the Gravitino Coil, a new attachment for the Multi-Tool. This module transforms the No Man’s Sky universe into a true physics playground. Players can now magnetize, lift, and launch heavy objects, industrial waste, and even Sentinel drones.

The developers have emphasized that this mechanic isn’t just a toy; it offers tactical advantages in combat and new ways to solve environmental puzzles. Imagine catching a Sentinel drone in mid-air and hurling it into another enemy to neutralize both—that is now a reality.

New Career: Galactic Scavenging & Logistics

Remnant adds a new layer of industrial depth to exploration. Wrecks and scrap piles scattered across planetary surfaces are no longer just set dressing; they are now valuable, harvestable resources.

  • Waste Processing Plants: These new structures found on planets allow players to recycle collected scrap into valuable materials and rewards.
  • Volatile Cargo Transport: Among the scrap, you’ll find “volatile waste” like radioactive barrels or explosive crates. Transporting these without detonation will test your driving skills and vehicle stability.

Colossus & Vehicle Customization Overhaul

Exocraft—specifically the heavy-duty Colossus—have received their most comprehensive update to date. They have evolved from simple transport options into fully modular industrial machines.

Players can now outfit their vehicles with:

  • New Chassis Types: Equip tank tracks, massive off-road wheels, or even spider-like mechanical legs for traversing difficult terrain.
  • Functional Flatbeds: Install tipping flatbeds for hauling cargo or integrated furnaces to process minerals on the go.
  • Deep Customization: New paint finishes, cockpit designs, and a functional horn system to greet (or annoy) fellow travelers.

Technical Upgrades & Platform Updates

Hello Games continues to push the technical envelope. The patch notes highlight several key improvements under the hood:

  • Enhanced Cloud Technology: Cloud lighting, edge stability, and overall performance have been significantly improved, offering breathtaking visuals during sunrise and sunset.
  • DLSS 4.5 Support: PC users with compatible hardware can now utilize the latest iteration of Deep Learning Super Sampling for better performance and image quality.
  • Corvettes on Switch: Nintendo Switch players can now construct and decorate the interiors of their own massive corvette-class starships for the first time.

Expedition 21: Remnant Begins

As with every major update, Remnant launches with a limited-time community event. Running for approximately six weeks, this expedition challenges players to form convoys and work together to clean up a planet covered in industrial wreckage.

Travelers who complete the journey will earn exclusive rewards, including a Steampunk-inspired “Heirloom” armor set, unique vehicle parts, and the coveted spider-leg module for the Colossus.

Celebrating 10 years of continuous development, the No Man’s Sky 6.2 Remnant update is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Mac, and Nintendo Switch.
