Netflix and FIFA Team Up: New FIFA Game Officially Announced
Netflix has made a major play in the gaming space, announcing a strategic partnership with FIFA to bring a brand-new football game exclusively to its subscribers. Developed by Delphi Interactive, the title is set to launch just ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
After parting ways with EA Sports in recent years and promising to develop games under its own brand, FIFA has finally delivered a concrete step forward. The game, both developed and published by Delphi Interactive, will likely resemble a streamlined mobile football experience.
The core philosophy behind the game emphasizes accessibility over complexity: fast to learn, thrilling to master, and designed for football fans of all ages to jump in effortlessly. Netflix’s President of Games, Alain Tascan, stated that their goal is to bring football “back to its roots” by creating an experience that “everyone can play with just the touch of a button.”
Based on these marketing buzzwords, it’s clear we’re looking at a notably simplified gameplay approach.
Your Phone Becomes the Controller
As part of Netflix’s cloud gaming vision, this new FIFA title will be playable on televisions. Players will be able to use their smartphones as controllers (gamepads) to experience the game. Both single-player and online multiplayer modes with friends will be available.
Statements from FIFA and Delphi Interactive
FIFA President Gianni Infantino emphasized that this collaboration is part of their commitment to innovation in football gaming. Infantino noted that the game will be offered free to Netflix members and represents a historic step in redefining simulation games.
Casper Daugaard, CEO of developer Delphi Interactive, summarized their mission as creating “the most fun, approachable, and global football game ever made.”
When Is It Coming Out?
No gameplay footage has been shared yet, but the title is scheduled to release in summer 2026, coinciding with the World Cup excitement as the United States, Canada, and Mexico co-host the tournament. More technical details and comprehensive information about the game are expected to be revealed throughout 2026.
