New Details Revealed for Realistic FPS “Gallipoli” Set During the Battle of Gallipoli

As part of New Game+ Showcase 2026, a comprehensive developer interview was published for Gallipoli, the highly anticipated First-Person Shooter (FPS) set during the Battle of Gallipoli campaign of World War I. Jos Hoebe, CEO of Blackmill Games—the studio behind successful WW1 titles Verdun, Tannenberg, and Isonzo—shared significant details about their upcoming project.

Historical Accuracy and Atmosphere

Gallipoli focuses on the Middle Eastern fronts of World War I. The development team emphasized their commitment to maintaining the highest level of historical accuracy by utilizing archival documents, period photographs, and geographical data. The game will feature not only the Gallipoli Peninsula but also strategic locations such as Mesopotamia (along the Tigris River) and Egypt (Suez Canal).

One of the interview’s highlights was Blackmill Games’ continuation of their “hardcore multiplayer” tradition. In battles featuring 50-player servers, the iconic bolt-action rifles of the era (Mauser, Enfield, Martini-Henry) retain their “one-shot kill” capability. This forces players to think strategically and value every bullet.

New Gameplay Mechanics: Suppression and Construction Systems

Jos Hoebe emphasized that mechanics inherited from Isonzo have been elevated to the next level in Gallipoli. Two new major features stand out:

  • Suppression System: When players come under heavy fire, their screens will blur and their characters will show signs of panic. This affects weapon reload speed, intensifying the tension of combat.
  • Construction and Fortification: Players will no longer just fight on the front lines but can also strengthen strategic positions similar to Battlefield V. Through specific classes, trenches can be built, machine gun nests established, and captured areas consolidated.

Historically Authentic Battlefields

Footage shared in the interview shows iconic locations like Anzac Cove and Medain (Ctesiphon) meticulously recreated. Every detail—from uniform buttons to markings on weapons—has been designed with historical accuracy in mind. Jos Hoebe stated that the team is aware of this conflict’s significance in the nation-building processes of Australia, New Zealand, and Turkey, and aims to create a production that honors this legacy.

Scheduled for release in late 2026, Gallipoli aims to deliver the most authentic World War I atmosphere for both history enthusiasts and tactical shooter fans.
