The Console Wars Are Ending: Helldivers 2 Deploys on Xbox with Halo Gear

Spreading managed democracy to every corner of the galaxy, Helldivers 2 is finally landing on Xbox Series X|S after a long wait. The massively successful former PlayStation exclusive will arrive for Xbox players on August 26th, and it’s celebrating the launch with an iconic collaboration.

New Warbond: Helldivers 2 x Halo: ODST

In honor of the game’s Xbox debut, a new “Legendary Warbond” inspired by the Halo series, titled Helldivers 2 x Halo: ODST, will be added to the game. This special content pack will be available to all players, regardless of their platform.

Unlockable for 1500 Super Credits, this new Warbond comes with a higher price tag than the standard 1000-credit ones but is packed with more content. Here are the highlights of what’s inside:

  • Weapons:

    • MA5C Assault Rifle: The iconic weapon from the Halo series.
    • M7S SMG: A suppressed submachine gun, ideal for stealth operations.
    • M90A Shotgun: A powerful option for delivering high damage at close range.
    • M6C/SOCOM Pistol: Introducing the first sidearm to support suppressed gameplay in Helldivers 2.
  • Armor Sets and Passive Ability:

    • Two new armor sets named A-9 Helljumper and A-35 Recon.
    • These sets come with the new “Feet First” passive ability, which allows the character to move more quietly, grants immunity to leg injuries, and helps in spotting Points of Interest on the map from 30% further away.
  • Other Cosmetics:

    • The pack also includes two new capes, player cards, the “Rookie” title, and a new vehicle pattern called “Mean Green.”

It’s Not Just Helldivers 2: Gears of War is Coming Too

In another major announcement today, Gears of War: Reloaded, a remake of the first game in one of Xbox’s most celebrated franchises, will be released simultaneously for Xbox, PC, and PlayStation 5. These moves signal that the era of console exclusivity in the gaming world is slowly coming to an end, as publishers look to expand their audiences by being present on more platforms.
