The next major update for Helldivers 2, Into the Unjust, has been announced and is set to deploy on September 2. Following its recent and successful launch on Xbox, the game is now taking players into uncharted territory: the Terminid homeworlds.
Delving into the Gloom
The Into the Unjust update invites players to explore the “Gloom,” a mysterious fog shrouding the Terminid Hive Worlds. Helldivers will face new dangers among massive structures built by the Terminids and within the deep caverns beneath the planet’s surface.
These cave networks are home to a new entity called the “Hive Lung,” which is believed to produce the Gloom. Due to the enclosed nature of these caves, full support from your Super Destroyer will be unavailable, forcing squads to rely entirely on their gear and teamwork to survive.
New Enemies and Missions
The update unleashes new threats from both above and below:
- Subterranean Threats: New variants of the Terminid Warrior, Bile Spewer, and Charger will burrow underground to ambush their prey, erupting from the surface when they get close.
- Dragonroach: This new menace patrols the skies, diving on unsuspecting Helldivers and raining down burning bile.
- Mobile Oil Rig Escort: Players will have to escort and defend a mobile oil rig as it traverses the treacherous terrain of the Hive Worlds.
- Destroy the Hive Lung: To stop the spread of the Gloom, squads must venture deep into the caves to locate and destroy the Hive Lung.
New Warbond: Dust Devils
Deploying on September 4, the new “Dust Devils” Premium Warbond offers gear specifically designed for the harsh conditions of the Hive Worlds.

- Weapons & Stratagems:
- AR-2 Coyote: A new assault rifle featuring incendiary rounds.
- G-7 Pineapple: A cluster fragmentation grenade.
- S-11 Speargun: Fires heavy-duty projectiles that release a cloud of gas on impact.
- EAT-700 Expendable Napalm: A single-use missile that delivers napalm cluster bombs.
- MS-11 Solo Silo: A Hellpod-sized silo containing a single, ultra-powerful missile controlled by a handheld targeting remote.
- Armor & Cosmetics:
- The DS-42 Federation’s Blade and DS-191 Scorpion armor sets both feature the “Desert Stormer” passive, granting resistance to fire, gas, acid, and arc damage.
- The Warbond also includes new capes, player cards, an emote, a player title, and the “Rattlesnake” pattern for vehicles and Hellpods.
With its player base reinvigorated by the recent Xbox launch, Helldivers 2 is set to intensify the galactic fight for democracy with the “Into the Unjust” update on September 2 and the “Dust Devils” Warbond on September 4.
