In a first for the series, the new infrastructure is built on the Unity engine, promising a revolutionary overhaul of the matchday experience. Leaked footage that surfaced online shortly before the official announcement had already given fans a glimpse of the significant leap in visual quality.
What’s New with the Unity Engine?
The new match engine introduces more fluid player movements, detailed animations, and a far more realistic on-pitch atmosphere. According to the development team, the switch to Unity brings several key enhancements:
- Enhanced Player Movement: The movement and positioning of players on the field will be more fluid and lifelike than ever before.
- Volumetric Animations: Leveraging data captured from real footballers, volumetric animations will deliver a more authentic experience, particularly in passing, shooting, and off-the-ball runs.
- Detailed Graphics: The visual fidelity of stadiums, pitches, and player models has been significantly increased to create a richer and more immersive matchday atmosphere.
These improvements aim to allow managers to see their tactical vision translate more clearly onto the pitch and feel the drama of the match more intimately.
