Night Falls on CS2: Ancient and Shoots Maps Get an Overhaul
A new update for Counter-Strike 2 has introduced both visual upgrades and brand-new night versions for the popular maps Ancient and Shoots.
Map Updates
With this update, all materials on Ancient have been refreshed using the latest CS2 shaders. New blending options have also been added, allowing for effects like wetness and moss.
Both Ancient and Shoots now feature night versions. For now, the nighttime version of Ancient is only available in Casual and Deathmatch modes, while you can experience the nocturnal atmosphere of Shoots across all game modes.
New Cosmetics and Music Kits
The Deluge Music Kit Box, featuring tracks from artists like Adam Beyer, Ghost, HEALTH, and Killer Mike, is now available for purchase in both standard and StatTrak™ versions.
Additionally, the limited-time item in The Armory has been refreshed. The new M4A1-S | Solitude skin is now available for a limited time.
Animation and Performance Improvements
The update also brings several technical adjustments that directly impact gameplay:
- Weapon Animations: The Sawed-off and XM1014 animations have been improved. Deploy and quick inspect animations for almost all knives, as well as for the AK-47, Galil, AUG, PP-Bizon, AWP, M4A4, and M4A1-S, have been made smoother.
- Performance: Rendering performance has been improved across most maps.
- Technical Fixes: Resolution and aspect ratio can now be changed in fullscreen windowed mode. Furthermore, the
fps_maxcommand can no longer be changed while connected to a server.
