Counter-Strike 2 Update Adds Genesis Collection and New Features

Counter-Strike 2 Update: Genesis Collection, New Sounds, and Map Scripting Tools

Valve has rolled out a fresh update for Counter-Strike 2, bringing notable additions for players, spectators, and map creators alike.

Genesis Collection

The highlight of the patch is the new Genesis Collection, featuring 17 community-designed weapon finishes. These skins can be obtained through the Genesis Uplink Terminal, available as part of the game’s weekly drops.

Spectator Loadout

A new spectator loadout feature lets teammates view a player’s full inventory after they’re eliminated. From weapon skins to cosmetic details, spectators can now inspect the loadout in detail while watching the round play out.

Map Scripting Support

For community creators, Valve has introduced cs_script, a JavaScript-based scripting system that opens up new possibilities for custom map logic. An example map, script_zoo.vmap, has been added to showcase its potential.

Sound and UI Improvements

  • Grenades now feature distinct, high-fidelity sounds for drawing, inspecting, pulling the pin, and throwing.
  • Inspect panels now support zooming with the mouse wheel and panning with shift + drag.

Other Changes

  • Subtick shooting has been refined for more consistent gameplay.

With these updates, CS2 continues to expand its customization, spectator, and creator tools—making the experience richer for players on all fronts.
