The Return of a Legend: Cache is Officially Back in CS2
One of the most beloved maps in Counter-Strike history, Cache, has finally made its way into Counter-Strike 2. With Valve’s latest update, Cache is now fully playable in Casual, Competitive, Deathmatch, and Retakes modes. For now, it remains excluded from the Premier matchmaking pool.
Veterans of the map will feel right at home, with familiar corners and defensive angles intact. For newcomers, Cache offers a classic three-lane layout that heavily rewards tactical execution, positioning, and tight team play.

Surprise Changes to Dust II
Alongside Cache, Dust II received an interesting layout adjustment. The ceiling of the Mid Box (Xbox) has been uncovered, revealing a previously hidden jump spot. Valve cheekily noted that this adjustment was made “on purpose this time.”
Additionally, on Office, player collision has been properly enabled on the tarps over the boxes located around the CT spawn area.
Community Map Updates
Two community workshop favorites have been refreshed to their latest versions:
- Stronghold: Updated to the newest version available on the Community Workshop.
- Poseidon: Similarly updated to match the latest workshop build.
Animgraph 2 & Animation Overhauls
Minor adjustments have been made to viewmodel animations across the board. Furthermore, both the Talon and Karambit knives are now gripped correctly by player models while defusing the C4 bomb.
Sound Mix Tweaks
A few balance changes were introduced to the audio mix. A bug where the C4 equip sound could not be interrupted by other weapon draw sounds has been squashed. Furthermore, the first-person death sound effect that previously played when the music kit’s death cue was silent has been removed.
Miscellaneous Fixes
- Addressed a shader bug affecting ambient occlusion (AO) while using alpha tests, which previously caused overly dark, pixelated silhouettes on railings (most notably seen on Mirage).
- Fixed a rare exploit that allowed players to hold no weapon if they requested a hand switch immediately after throwing a grenade.
