Black Myth: Wukong Finally Headed to Xbox — But Questions Linger
After a year of anticipation (and some frustration for Xbox players!), the highly-awaited Black Myth: Wukong is finally confirmed for the Xbox platform. The Xbox version is set to launch on August 20, 2025. This date notably marks the one-year anniversary of its initial release on PS5 and PC.
The Series S Scapegoat?
Developer Game Science initially pointed fingers at the Xbox Series S’s technical limitations as the reason for last year’s delay of the Xbox version. The studio claimed the game couldn’t achieve the desired quality standards on the less powerful console.
However, this explanation soon became muddied by conflicting statements. Whispers from the Xbox camp suggested the delay wasn’t hardware-related at all, but rather stemmed from a potential platform exclusivity deal. PlayStation, for its part, flatly denied any such exclusive agreement, dismissing these allegations. The real reason remains a topic of much debate among gamers.
First-Ever Sale and Xbox Pre-Orders Kick Off June 18th
Alongside the Xbox release news, Game Science has announced the game’s first-ever discount campaign across all platforms. This sale is scheduled to begin on June 18th (GMT +0), the same day Xbox pre-orders go live. The exact discount percentage, however, remains under wraps for now.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on this one, folks. Stay tuned to gaming-db.com for further updates on Black Myth: Wukong as they drop.
